The short version
We keep your account and your subscription, and almost nothing else. Your conversations with Buddy are not stored on our servers, and neither are the photos you scan — they are sent to the model that answers, and that is the end of them. There is no advertising, no analytics script and no tracking pixel in this app, and we never see your card number.
| Account | Email, name and the sign-in method you chose | To create your account and let you back in |
| Subscription | Which plan, when it started, when it renews | To open the right features and bill correctly |
| Progress | Which lessons and drills you have completed, your streak | To show your progress back to you |
| Support mail | What you write to us | To answer you, and to keep a record of what was agreed |
| Server logs | IP address, time, which request — short-lived, at our host | Security and keeping the service running |
The lawful basis for the first three is performance of our contract with you; for support mail and logs it is our legitimate interest in running a supportable, secure service.
Your chats. A question you ask Buddy is sent to the model, answered, and not written to our database. We cannot read your past conversations back, because we do not have them.
Your scans. A photo you take for plant or gear identification is sent to the identification services below and discarded. We do not store it, and we do not build a library of your photos.
Your location. The app does not collect GPS or any location data. The coordinates the scanner works with are positions inside the picture itself, not places on the earth.
Your card. Payment details go straight to our payment processor and never reach our servers.
| Clerk | Sign-in and account management | Email, name, sign-in events |

| RevenueCat | Subscriptions bought inside the mobile app | Purchase receipts from Apple or Google |
| Anthropic | The model that answers your questions | The text of the question you ask, at the moment you ask it |
| Google (Gemini) | Recognising what is in a scanned photo | The photo, at the moment you scan |
| Pl@ntNet | Identifying plants from a photo | The photo, at the moment you scan |
| ElevenLabs / OpenAI | Reading answers aloud | The text being spoken |
| Vercel | Hosting the app and its API | Request logs, including IP address |
None of them may use your data for their own marketing. These providers operate in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and the United States; where data leaves the UK or EEA the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard in our agreement with that provider.
We set a sign-in session cookie so you stay signed in, and we store small amounts of data in your browser or on your device so the app can work offline. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, which is why you are not asked to consent to any.
Your account and progress: while your account exists, and briefly afterwards so you can come back. Billing and tax records: as long as UK tax and company law requires — currently six years from the end of the accounting period. Support mail: up to two years. Server logs: a short retention period set by each provider, typically days or weeks.
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable form. Write to support@survivorbuddy.ai and we answer within one month. Deleting your account removes your access and your profile; we keep only the billing records the law requires.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Survivor Buddy is sold to adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly create accounts for under-16s. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Sign-in is handled by a specialist provider, everything is served over HTTPS, and payment details never touch our systems. No service can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affects your data we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Survivor Buddy is a brand covering several independent products — this app, our Academy, and our books. Each has its own account and its own policy. This one covers the app and webapp you are using now.
